Reflections at the Terminal

This piece began as a photograph I took years ago with my first camera, during my first airport job, on the night of my first cancellation. I had gotten off work after midnight, there were no cars around, it was raining, and after a long day I found myself standing in the middle of the street, looking at the terminal lights reflecting across the wet pavement. Something about that moment stopped me. I wanted to take it with me, so I took the photo I knew I would always remember.

Description

This work is an original photograph that was digitally edited and printed on stretched canvas. The original photograph was later developed as the artist’s first Photoshop project. The digital editing strengthened the existing color, contrast, reflected light, and nighttime atmosphere while preserving the original location, architecture, and photographic composition. Printed on stretched canvas, the photograph takes on the visual presence and texture of a painting while remaining a photographic work.
