I’m a San Francisco Bay Area painter whose work focuses on movement, texture, and the way light transforms everyday scenes in nature. Golden Hour Drift belongs to a recent body of work where I experiment with atmospheric color relationships and expressive brushwork to evoke a sense of open space. Working primarily in acrylics, I aim to balance serene, grounding palettes with dynamic subjects. My paintings are held in private collections throughout California, and I regularly show my work in regional Bay Area exhibitions and community art spaces.
In this acrylic piece, I wanted to capture the weightless, sweeping movement of birds cutting through late-afternoon coastal air. I worked with a subtle color contrast—setting warm, coral and terra-cotta tones on the birds against a calm, pale mint and turquoise background. By leaving plenty of open negative space in the sky, my goal was to bring out the quiet expanse of the ocean air and make you feel the continuous energy of the flock in motion.
